چکیده

Acute coronary syndrome (ACS) is still a serious condition associated with decreased quality of life, increased healthcare expenditures, and premature death. The prevalence of ACS is expected to increase with aging of the population and with the epidemics of obesity and diabetes. The shortand long-term mortality after an ACS has been dramatically reduced by the development of revascularization techniques and new antithrombotic agents. The past decade has seen many trials evaluating new oral and parenteral antiplatelet agents with greater potency than aspirin and clopidogrel. Several antiplatelet agents have been developed, with the ultimate goal to obtain optimal antiplatelet therapy for both the acute and the chronic phases of disease.

Molecular docking and in silico ADME prediction of Ticagrelor as an antagonist of the P2Y12 receptor

The purpose of the present research work is prediction of electronic and physico-chemical properties of the novel medicinal compound Ticagrelor (AZD6140) using density functional theory (DFT) method. Firstly, its molecular structure was optimized at B3LYP/6-311++G(d,p) basis set of theory at room temperature. The global reactivity indices used to study the reactivity and stability of the title ...

Personalized antiplatelet therapy with P2Y12 receptor inhibitors: benefits and pitfalls

Antiplatelet therapy with P2Y12 receptor inhibitors has become the cornerstone of medical treatment in patients with acute coronary syndrome, after percutaneous coronary intervention and in secondary prevention of atherothrombotic events. Clopidogrel used to be the most broadly prescribed P2Y12 receptor inhibitor with undisputable benefits especially in combination with aspirin, but a considera...
